Heart of Blue

Beneath my skin

a soul

       sinking

diving

squeezing

My body

       measurable

              in volume

          Known more for power;

My chest

crests

swells

sings

seeps

My arms

clasp

              reach

All corners of the earth;

Mothered by

rage

              tension

        rogue

              percussion

Held in

         fear

              avoided for

              Submerged ancient nightmares;

With a depth

        unseen

              untouched

        unknown

undertaken

Even my lover, the moon

         dare not

              beckon

              Lest I reach for her;

Plundered

          by net

              by iron

mouth

             opened

Hello acidity;

Necessary evil

          swirling

              gagging

          choking

              gurgling

Smoothing basins

          chasing veins

              consummating canyons

              Forgetting their names;

Value?

            overlooked

Bounty?

            overestimated

Primates will ruin me

devour

             every fish

drink

             every drop

Gift me

         belly

              of waste

         Inedible

              Pollutants

              The taste of the toxic;

Rotten.

Greasy.

Plastic.
